CAPITAL DEPRECIATION: The wearing out, breaking down, or technological obsolescence of physical capital that results from use in the production of goods and services. To paraphrase an old saying, "You can't make a car without breaking a few socket wrenches." In other words, when capital is used over and over again to produce goods and services, it wears down from such use.

UNFAIR COMPETITION: A wide assortment of business practices that are deceptive and dishonest, and usually hamper competition. Examples of unfair competition include false or misleading advertising, price discrimination, bribery, and even industrial espionage. These practices and many, many more are illegal according to antitrust law, specifically the Federal Trade Commission Act (1914). TOTAL FIXED COST Cost of production that does NOT change with changes in the quantity of output produced by a firm in the short run. Total fixed cost is one part of total cost. The other is total variable cost. At any and all levels of output, fixed cost is the same. It includes cost that is not dependent on, or is unrelated to, production. The best way to identify fixed cost is to produce zero output. Fixed cost is incurred whether or not any output is produced. A cost measure directly related to total fixed cost is average fixed cost.
